Excitement as students achieve best results on school record
Students and staff at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy (OSCA) are celebrating today as Year 11 students collect their GCSE results – which are the best in the school’s history – marking the culmination of years of hard work, commitment and determination.
OSCA was proud to host Branwen Jeffreys, BBC Education Editor, who spoke with pupils, parents, and Peter McKinniss, the Principal.
The school is celebrating the achievements of its students, who have shown resilience and ambition throughout their studies and are now preparing to take their next steps in education, training or employment.
This year’s cohort achieved particularly highly with another year of improved results, including in science, mathematics, humanities and arts, in addition to consistent impressive results in English with total grades continuing to exceed the national average. Students have also achieved a record number of top grades this year, enabling them to take their next steps in education, training and employment.
OSCA is committed to creating a supportive, ambitious and exciting learning environment that puts students first, encouraging every young person to aim high and achieve their full potential. As part of Ormiston, the school is dedicated to providing the highest quality education and ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, gains the skills and opportunities they need to thrive.

Peter McKinniss, Principal at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy, said:
“Today is all about celebrating our Year 11 students and recognising everything they have achieved, particularly as the best set of results on record for the school. They have approached their studies with maturity, determination and a real willingness to challenge themselves, and today’s results are a fitting reward for all of their hard work.
“It has been a pleasure to watch this year group grow into confident, ambitious young people who have made a real contribution to school life. We are excited to see where their next steps take them and wish them every success for the future.”
