OSCA Results 2017

Another Triumph for Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy

Students and staff at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy in Tividale are celebrating today as they receive the best GCSE results ever in the school’s history.

Overall, an impressive 57% of students achieved at least a Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, following the government reforms of the subjects and the introduction of the new 1-9 grading system.

There was particular success in English, with 71% of students achieving a Grade 4 or higher and 59% achieve at least a Grade 5. In Maths, 60% of students attained a Grade 4 or above, despite this being the first year of the new, tougher exams.

The academy, which is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and has recently been recognised as a National Support School, has yet more to celebrate with the continuing trend of year on year improvement.

Amongst the many successes of the day, some of OSCA’s highest achievers include:

  •   Sam  – 2 Grade 9s, 1 Grade 7, 3 A*s, 2As, 1 Distinction* and 1 Merit
  •  Paulina  – 2 Grade 8s, 1 Grade 7, 1A*, 3 As and 2 Bs.

OSCA has also now completed the final phase of its redevelopment programme and the final remodelled ‘C block’ will officially open to students in September 2017, accommodating the growth in students numbers being full and over subscribed for the third consecutive year.

Staff and Governors at the Academy have been preparing to celebrate in style the fantastic results with all students, which is a double celebration, following last week’s best ever sixth form results.

Executive Principal at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy, Marie McMahon said:

“I am once again so pleased and proud that we just keep going from strength to strength with each new set of results achieved. Our whole school community have worked so hard this year, and I could not be more delighted with these results, which are reflective of the dedication and commitment shown.

“Standards have now risen year on year here at OSCA, and we keep raising the bar ever higher, as we move forward together on our journey to Outstanding.”
