Immunisations

Dear Parents/Carers

Your child is due to have two booster vaccinations, commonly known as the school leavers booster vaccinations.

One vaccination protects against diphtheria, tetanus and polio (Revaxis) and is recommended if your child has not received this vaccination in the last 5 years. The other vaccination protects against Meningococcal ACWY, which can cause meningitis, this vaccination is recommended if your child has not received a Meningococcal ACWY vaccination since the age of 10.

In Birmingham and Sandwell these vaccinations are given to the children in Year 9 by a very experienced immunisation team who work closely with the school nurses.

Two consent cards (one green, one white) will be given out to house groups over the next 4 days during L4S.

· Tuesday - Dahl House

· Wednesday - Shakespeare House

· Thursday - Picasso House

· Friday - Da Vinci House

The consent cards need to be completed and returned to OSCA as soon as possible stating if you DO or DO NOT require your child to receive these vaccinations. It is important you complete both consent cards even if your child has already had these vaccinations or you do not require your child to receive these vaccinations – we can then update your child’s school health records.
