Highest Ever Academic GCSE Scores!

OSCA celebrates a record number of elite A* and A grades, and its highest ever academic GCSE scores!

The students and staff at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy, Tividale are celebrating more great news today as they receive their GCSE results, with 50% achieving the top 5A*-C grades, and a huge increase in the elite A* and A grades.

The academy, recently graded as Good by Ofsted, is once again celebrating its best academic GCSE results ever. This continues the trend of year on year improvement; including this year a significant increase in the achievement of the top grades of A* and A in a range of subjects- these have more than doubled since last year!

Rajdeep Sahota – 1A*, 5As and 4Bs
Prabjheet Gill – 8As and 2Bs
Ilona Willetts – 5As and 5Bs
Jordan Jakeways – 2As, 8Bs and 1C
Asad Iqbal – 6As and 4 Bs

2015 has been a significant year for OSCA as it has completed its £10 million academy development project, and also managed to make leaps and bounds in students’ progress.  Expected progress in English has increased to 75% this year. Moreover, there was a 19% rise in the number of students exceeding national expectations. Some students at OSCA have managed to make an outstanding 5 and 6 levels of progress in the core subjects. These include:

Rajdeep Sahota – 6 Levels of progress in Maths

Keah Tyler and Jake Hawley – 5 levels of progress in Maths

Charlotte Bakewell, Kardo Rawunduzy, Simran Singh and George Kyte all managed to make a phenomenal 5 levels of progress in GCSE English.

One OSCA student, Marinela Tashos has made incredible progress during her 10 months at OSCA, having only arrived in the UK from Greece in the summer of 2014. Marinela has managed to secure 1A*, 3As and 5Bs- all in just 10 months!

The Academy has also made good use of the Pupil Premium funding it receives to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds, having closed progress and attainment gaps for these students across a number of measures.

Staff and Governors at the Academy were rolling out the red carpet to celebrate the academy’s success in style as students arrived to receive their results.

Best ever academic GCSE results, on top of best ever 6th form results last week, doubling the percentage of the elite A* and A grades, the Ofsted Good judgement, and superb new facilities- what an achievement. I am so proud of all our students and staff, and so grateful for the fantastic support we have received from our parents and guardians. Next stage: outstanding!’
