Community Project Letter to Parents

Dear Parent/Guardian

Year 6 and 7 Community Cohesion Project

I have recently been involved in meetings with the local police team and the Head teacher at Tividale Community Primary School about developing a Community Project in Tividale and Oldbury for our Year 7 students and some Year 6 pupils.

Therefore, as a continued part of our responsibility to educate our children not just for the needs of the curriculum but also to enable them to have aspirations for their futures and the skills to become successful citizens, we would really like your help….

We are looking for parents with particular skills, hidden talents and hobbies (I know there are lots of you), or those of you who work in an Oldbury business, who would be able to donate some time to work on the project with our students.

Maybe you:

  • Are an excellent chef?
  • Have a jewellery, card making or cup-cake business?
  • Are a fine sports player, musician, artist, photographer designer or carpenter?

All of these skills, and more, are ideal to help our students consider enterprise and careers for their futures.

The time commitment would involve five Friday afternoons for 6 weeks, between approximately 1pm and 3pm, starting on 20th May. Culminating on Friday 1st July, with a showcase at Tividale Community Primary School Summer Fayre, of what you and the pupils have been working on, or a stall selling the products.

We already have a group of Year 8, 7 and 6 children, who have been working hard preparing the ground at an allotment which the Tividale Park Allotment Group have kindly given us use of. They have been busy planting seeds to grow produce to sell at the Fayre.

We appreciate that many of you work, and that there is a time commitment involved, but this is an excellent project for our students to appreciate and be proud of the skills in their local community, whilst developing their own aspirations for their futures.

Many thanks in anticipation of your support.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs G Garner
