Best Ever A Level Results at OSCA

Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy celebrated their best ever sixth form results today, marking yet another year of academic improvement and personal achievements for its’ students and staff.
This is an excellent set of results for the academy. It confirms the academy’s continued improvement following its recent Ofsted inspection grading it as good across all categories, for the first time in its history.
100% of students achieved grades A*-E. The majority (61%) of the students collecting their results today have received 3 or more level 3 qualifications, and almost all achieved 2 or more.
Attainment was exceptionally strong in vocational subjects with students securing best ever results for the variety of subjects on offer at OSCA Sixth. Their ‘value added’ score is likely to be significantly higher than all schools and colleges nationally! There were some outstanding individual performances:
Rebecca Allen 1
Rebecca Allen – Completed 3 vocational courses within 1 academic year after previously dropping out of a local 6th form college. She has finished OSCA with one Distinction*, one Distinction and a Merit- all in just 1 year instead of the usual two years!.  OSCA staff have worked closely with Rebecca to support her through this year, and she even decided late on to apply for university and has been offered a place to study Early Childhood.

Other students have done exceedingly well too, for instance by gaining 4 or even 5 level 3 qualifications. These include:
Maryam Shahban – Three Distinction*s and a Grade C
Chloe Ward : Two Distinction*s, 1 Distinction, 1 Merit and a D
Shimaila Ayaz  - Two Distinction*s,  a B and 2 E’s
Harkamaljit Kaur – Two Distinction*s ,a Distinction, a grade B and a D.
Sorbia Begum - Three Distinction’s, a Distinction and a Merit.

OSCA Sixth is extremely proud that record numbers of year 13 students have applied to university and have been accepted to study the courses of their choice, in a whole range of subjects.

Principal Marie McMahon said: “The celebrations just keep on coming at OSCA! To have achieved our best ever A level results in the same year the academy was graded as good, and following on from the launch of our new, fantastic facilities, is the icing on the cake. I am immensely proud of all the students have achieved with the support of their teachers and families. I wish them all the very best for a happy and successful future.’

Professor Toby Salt, CEO of the sponsor Ormiston Academies Trust added: “Congratulations to the staff and students at OSCA for their hard work this year. This has been a great year for the academy, with praise from Ofsted and a fantastic new building.

“I wish all OSCA students the very best in their future endeavours.”
