House System & Success Centre

 House Structure

At OSCA all staff and students belong to a 'house'.  The houses are:

  •   Da Vinci
  •   Dahl
  •   Shakespeare
  •   Picasso

Each house has a team of tutors as well as a head of house and an assistant head of house. School activities such as assemblies and sports days will be organised by house and a number of house competitions will occur throughout the year.

Our house system encourages a sense of belonging and provides a support network for students.

Success Centre:

The Success Centre’s role is to support behaviour management as well as emotional and social referral procedures. The Success Centre is dedicated to ensuring that every child in the academy is supported and nurtured throughout their time here and we strive to treat students as individuals, addressing their needs when required.

The Success Centre endeavors to raise the self-esteem and self-worth of the students that it directly supports and works hard to remove any potential barriers to learning that the student may be experiencing. This has to be done by establishing a holistic approach to inclusion, and is supported by teaching, non-teaching staff; and more importantly parents.

All staff at OSCA are committed to ensuring that the Success Centre works fully in partnership with parents and carers to promote a united and positive home-school partnership.

In conjunction with the expectation that students are supported at school and home, our staffs actively seek and utilise a multitude of external agencies to support the students’ individual programs whilst they are in the school environment.

The success centre provides:

  • Mentoring
  • Time out and drop in sessions
  • Some small group revision/study
  • A base for students following an alternative curriculum
  • A ‘Learning Hub’
